Mayor Johnny DuPree wants to continue serving Hattiesburg
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Mayor Johnny DuPree has served as Mayor of Hattiesburg for four terms, and he is hoping for a fifth.
Mayor DuPree has helped the community in various ways, and also helped Hattiesburg become one of the most progressive smallest cities in America.
"We were just named the ‘Most Livable City’ again for the second time out of three years. The number of awards that we've won. When your peers say that you've done a good job, done a decent job, you really get excited about that, because you're judged by people who know the job, people who know what you have to contend with on a daily basis. And when you get judged by them, I don't think it gets any better than that. But just being elected four times in this position has been just wonderful for my family," said Mayor DuPree.
Mayor DuPree said besides God and his family, being Mayor of Hattiesburg is the best part of his life.
Mayor DuPree also said he loves serving the community and helping people, and encourages everyone to go out and vote Tuesday.
Polls will be open from 7-7 p.m.
