Boot prints and insulation lead to arrest

JONES COUNTY, MS. - The following is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

On September 18, 2017 Jones County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Magnolia Road in reference to a burglary in progress.

The homeowner advised she had heard a loud noise in the home then suddenly a pair of legs crashed through the ceiling. She screamed and a male voice replied, “We’re working up here.” She noticed the legs had on a pair of dark boots.

Deputies arrived on the scene and noticed a large amount of pink insulation was knocked out of the ceiling, and boot prints were observed on top of the victim’s vehicle, parked in the carport, which led to the attic entry.

Later that day, deputies saw Joshua L. Nobles, 36 of Laurel, in the area at a graveyard, barefooted. He said he was checking on his mother’s grave and had just left his grandmother’s house. When deputies checked that residence they found a pair of dark boots with pink insulation on them – which Nobles admitted being his. A check of the sole of the boots also matched boot prints found on top of the victim’s vehicle.

Nobles was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Burglary. Judge Howell Beech set his bond at $5,000.
