Moms and babies participate in child exercise programs
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Forrest General's Spirit of Women's Mommie and Me classes gives mothers and their babies an opportunity to interact and exercise using music, movement and rhyme.
Fitness for two is a six week series, pre and post child-birth exercise course for mother and baby. Director Madalene Daniell describes the program as a transition from pregnancy awareness to mommie and baby - both acquiring developmental milestones.
"That I have them in less than a year, they can clap for one another and celebrate one another before they’re even one year old. So it’s just a matter of giving them the opportunity to do that,” said Daniell.
With nearly 40 years of experience, Daniel hasn't dropped the ball. She said there is no formula when it comes to raising a child but, she is always learning something new from her little students.
“They teach me, what to do and what brings forth life. So I’ve just learned to just make sure and pay attention and be engaged and learn to let what’s in front of you be the next step,”
Mommie and me also offers opportunities to share experience with extended family.
