Missy McGee wins District 102 seat
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - New state representative Missy McGee makes her transition into the District 102 seat Tuesday, after defeating opponent Kathryn Rehner with more than 2,000 votes.
Rehner pulled in 32 percent with over 900 votes. McGee says she has a lot to learn but she looks forward to getting started.
" [I] also know that we have challenges like any city does and so I want to work to find answers to improve our public education system, address our infrastructure needs and I also want to find ways to keep our young talent in Hattiesburg by providing them good jobs, so that they all stay in Hattiesburg and make a life for themselves,” said McGee, District 102.
McGee is the first woman in 65 years since Evelyn Gandy to hold the District 102 seat.
