Laurel Police Department teams up with the Good Samaritan Center

HATTIESBURG, MISS. - The Laurel Police Department is teaming up with the Good Samaritan Center to challenge the citizens and businesses of Laurel to fill a truck with non-perishable food items. This the third annual year, the police department and the Good Samaritan Center came together for this food drive. "Well, this is going to our third annual 'fill a truck' program. It's done to benefit the Good Samaritan's Center here in Laurel. Three years ago, Chief Stewart got together with the people at the Good Samaritans Center, and we've been trying to help them out with collecting non-perishable food items," Laurel police officer, Cpt. Tommy Cox said. "We are going to be in front of Walmart here in Laurel with our big blue F-250 pickup truck, you can't miss us." The food pantry helped more than 1500 people and 900 families with over 32,000 meals in the past year. The time for the drive is 10AM-6PM.
