Shooter at Collins plant found dead after three hour stand off
COLLINS, Miss. - Collins Police Department and other area Authorities responded to a shooting on Monday around 4pm at the Sanderson’s farm plant on Highway 49.
Upon arrival, police found out that one employee shot another. Later authorities identified the suspect as 41-year-old Darrin Jones of Collins.
Around midnight Collins Police Department and the Covington County Sheriff’s Department found Jones in a remote area north of Collins inside his vehicle. After a three hour stand off, Jones died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
According to Collins Police Chief Joey Ponder, the victim from the shooting is still in critical condition.
