JCJC Black History Leadership Program features Gulfport's Carlos Bell

HATTIESBURG, MISS. - Jones County Junior College pays a tribute to black history month Tuesday morning, by bringing guest speaker, Carlos Bell who is currently the Director of Engagement with the Port of Gulfport to speak to students at the school’s Black History Leadership Program. The theme of the program Tuesday was “Leading from Within.” "To honor black history month continue to read more about our leadership in the past and the people that were great pillars in the community,” Bell said. “But in my message today, I wanted to encourage them that they can take risks. They can step off of the mountain, and really believe in what God has put in them as their gifts and talents. Also, their surroundings… build good friendships with people that will help them get further in life." Bell was the first African American director to be hired in his current role with Port of Gulfport, which happened in 2014.
