JCJC Hosts SkillsUSA Region V Competition & Conference

HATTIESBURG, MISS. – Jones County Junior College brought more than 200 high school students on campus Friday morning for the "SkillsUSA Region V Competition & Conference." The competitions consisted of various skill sets that students could use as a career path. Staff members say the conference provides students an opportunity to grow in their craft. “The competition brings in schools from all around the community and they will have competitions in the skilled areas and leadership areas. One of the big things in high school and in the post-secondary school is each school has a student organization to where they can showcase their skills. So, we get them out of their element, we get them with other schools and we get them competing showcasing what they are supposed to be doing.” Winners of Friday’s competition will get the chance to compete in the state finals in Jackson.
