HATTIESBURG, MISS. - Hattiesburg officials held a press conference on May 2, 2018 at the Hattiesburg Visitors Center to address the upcoming FestivalSouth events returning to Hattiesburg venues.
A line-up of events, performances, and presentations will take place from June 9-June 23.
Executive Director for Visit Hattiesburg Marlo Dorsey expects a massive crowd of people to pour into the city for the festival.
“When you look at the month of June, that’s obviously a very busy month for tourism,” Dorsey said. “We really expect thousands of people to be here in June to really enjoy the festivals.”
The Hattiesburg Concert Association presents Mississippi’s only multi-week, multi-genre festival, offering both free and ticketed events.
The festival offers a total of more than 60 events in a two-week time span. Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker shared his outlook on FestivalSouth events at the press conference.
“You won’t find this many events in the concentrated time period, in a city as small as Hattiesburg anywhere else,” Barker said. “And there will be no other town in Mississippi that offers what FestivalSouth offers in those two weeks”
