USM Veterans Center Earns Military Friendly Gold Status for Second Straight Year

HATTIESBURG, MISS. - For the second consecutive year The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) has been designated a “Gold Status” Military Friendly School by Victory Media for 2018-19.The designation recognizes USM for its continued extraordinary commitment in caring for and providing engaged assistance to support military veterans, service members and their families. Over the last four years Victory Media has designated USM as a Military Friendly institution.
“We are grateful for ‘Gold Status’ Military Friendly recognition and eager to do more on behalf of our student-veterans, and military students,” said Maj. Gen. (U.S. Army ret.) Jeff Hammond, who serves as director of USM’s Center for Military Veterans, Service Members and Families. “Our University leads the way across the State of Mississippi in developing accessible programs to meet the needs and interests of student-veterans who have been self-sacrificing in their service to our nation. We look forward in continuing to make a difference in the lives of those who served for our freedom.”
