HPD: Victor Kirksey is in custody

The manhunt for Victor Kirksey ended Monday -- several hours after it began.

Here's how it started -- according to this portion of a press release from HPD.

"On Monday, June 18, Hattiesburg Police and members of the Lamar County Sheriffs Department were attempting to serve a warrant at a residence on Lexington Drive.

When officers approached the house they were met with gunfire, one Hattiesburg Police officer was struck in the leg."

HPD later noted the unidentified officer was treated at a local hospital and has since been released.
