Lamar County Sheriff Dept. investigates shooting near Weathersby road

LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. - The Lamar County Sheriff Department is working on an active case that involves five suspects and one injured victim.

Friday morning authorities responded to a shooting near Weathersby Road. When police arrived on the scene five people inside the apartment jumped out of a back room window to escape a gunman they claimed to be inside.

However, when police entered the building there was no gun man to be found – only several weapons. Authorities took the five suspects – one of them a woman – into custody for questioning. The unidentified male victim of the incident was shot in the lower part of his stomach.
