Laurel Veterans Memorial Museum closes temporarily due to increase in COVID-19 cases

(The following is a press release from the Veterans Memorial Museum in Laurel. The image in this story comes from MyFOX23.com's files.)

The Veterans Memorial Museum regrets to announce that the museum is voluntarily closing for an undetermined period of time as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 virus pandemic. The executive board of directors made this decision as a result of the recent dramatic upswing in virus cases, as well as the recent diagnosis of one of the museum volunteers with a Covid related illness.

The length of this closure has no set time frame, and the reopening will be determined by the executive board following the recommendations of the Mississippi State Board of Health and the advice of local medical experts. This decision was made with the safety and well being of our visitors and volunteers foremost in mind.

The VMM will still offer small (6 or less) group tours during this time of closure. If someone wishes to schedule a special tour, please call (601)319-2902.
